Preparing the boat on a wet and stormy day

Saturday was a wet and stormy day, so rather than go out and sail we set about addressing the long list of required items of boat preparation that are needed prior to our bluewater adventure. One issue that has been looming is to immobilize the bilge cover and the storage covers (also seat bottoms). To achieve this we have used a bungee cord that attaches between the bilge and the bilge cover, and we used two hinges and bolt to immobilize the seat bottoms.

Additionally, the required Bell is installed – this was a tough one as Phil needed to drill into the boat. Rest assured the drill bit did not come near to the hull!

As this entry is written, it is sunny and windy - 20-25mph with gusts reported to 35 mph. Will be a good day to go out and test different sail combinations and reefing.
